Friday Fancies -- City Life

Another Friday! Hooray! This is the first 5 day school week we've had in a really long time, and I'm so ready to sleep in. Unfortunately, I have to wait to sleep in until Sunday because tomorrow I'm headed to NYC! Actually, I'm going on a college visit in Sparkill, but afterwards, NYC here I come!

I LOVE the city. I love it even more during Christmas time, but this works fine too! Hey, if I end up going to this college, I could go to NYC every weekend! (The dream!) I feel like it's imperative to be stylish while in a big city. Is that just me? I want to feel like a real New Yorker, so when going to the big apple, ya got to dress to impress. Eh, maybe I'm wrong, but style doesn't hurt!

Yesterday I was in DC and it took me a good hour to pick out an outfit the night before, even though I was only walking the streets for about an hour and a half!

Do you agree?

Share a Snapshot

I thought I'd look back into my photo archives today and share a picture that brings back memories or just makes me happy. This is probably one of my favorite pictures ever -- it was when Spring had just arrived and everything was so fresh and new. The sun is perfect and I wish I had my window open with flowers in all my vases right now. Just looking at this pictures makes me so so happy :)

Share a past snapshot of your life and tell a story about it! I'd love to read them!

I got this idea from Danielle over at Sometimes Sweet -- she put together a wonderful post about what to write about when you're a stumped blogger. Check it out!

Bath lust

Who doesn't love baths?! I have a small tub, but one day I'm going to have such a fabulous bathroom. I probably won't have one as fabulous as these, but I'm just going to lust over how perfect these bathtubs are and how much I would love to have these views while bathing...

Friday Fancies -- Pantone's Color of the Year

Happy Friday once again! I hope you've all had a great week... I had a cold snowy one. We were the only school in the district to not have off on Wednesday because of ice. So I think that just about explains the kind of week I had ;)

Untitled #68

Have you all heard the new color of the year?! Radiant Orchid! What a festive Spring color! I actually have pants this color, so I thought I'd create an outfit centered around pants.
2013's color was Emerald and click here to check out other colors of years past!

Even though {av} isn't doing Friday Fancies every week anymore, we can still use our imagination and do some of our own! Pop over to her blog anyway though, because she's still awesome!

Currently

Loving: My new car!! I mean, there's a lot I'm loving right now, but I got a car a few weeks ago and it's VERY great. It's a 2000 Dodge Intrepid. Oldie but goodie :)

Thinking about: How awesome and new 2014 is going to be! It's going to be so fresh and happy and I'm looking forward to all the new experiences I'm going to have!

Watching: Bob's Burgers! Holy cow, seriously. I HIGHLY recommend that show! I just caught up on seasons 1 and 2 on Netflix in about a day. It's SO funny and I can't put into words how much I love it -- haha! And I'm always watching the Kardashians because I'm obsessed with them ;)

Anticipating: Not much for the rest of the month, but I guess the biggest thing would be my 18th birthday on March 11! There's a lot going on from March onward, so basically I'm just anticipating all to come when it starts to get warmer out!

Listening to: I'm pretty obsessed (I use that word a lot... hehe!) with the Bling Ring sound track right now. It's such a great movie and has a pretty good sound track to it too. I love the song Super Rich Kids by Frank Ocean.

Working on: Being patient on waiting for my URI letter. WILL I GET IN OR NOT?! That's my top choice and my parents aren't so keen on me going there, so I'm also just trying to slowly figure out my future. I wish I could just KNOW so I can get that out of the way and just look forward to it.

Wishing: I could just smoothly sail through this year. I don't mean the work load or anything, but just being myself since I'm only at this school for a few more months. Why do I care what people think of me so much? I've talked about this before, but I just wish I could be myself for just these last few months. Ah, well. I'll keep trying.

These pictures from Morocco by Anne Mumford on Flickr are so great! She also has awesome pictures from her daily life -- definitely check her out!

P.S. I still haven't gotten my blogger problem fixed, so I'm just going to post some drafts, I suppose! This is really frustrating and I'm really not sure what to do... I'm thinking it might be a virus?? Hopefully I can get on soon! I miss the blog-o-sphere!

Technical difficulties

Hello all! I'm having some trouble getting on Blogger on my computer, so I'm writing this from my iPhone. I'm not sure what's wrong with my darn computer but I really hope to get it up and working again! Frustration!

I'll send you a letter!

I'm so bored! I've been painting with water color a lot lately and I'm running out of new things to paint/things to do with the pictures I paint. I also love writing letters and I have nobody to write letters to since everyone lives so close to me, SO please e-mail me if you'd like something! I'll just send you a letter to brighten up your day -- no harm in that! My e-mail is katiescherpf(at)gmail(dot)com. Come one, come all!

one of these days

This year, I want to de-clutter my life. I want to clean out my entire room and just keep things that I need to keep. I almost wish I could even take everything down and repaint my room white, just so that I could start fresh again.

Gorggg

At some point, I'm going to just take a whole day and go through my room and get rid of the bins of clothes that I have and throw out all the papers around my desk and re decorate and I think I'll feel so much better.

In about 2 months when I know what the rest of my year looks like and when I know where I'm going to college I know I'll feel so much better and then I'll be able to really get my life together and organized.

I just wanted to put that on the blog because it's a goal I've set for myself! One of these days I'll really get organized and feel so good ;)

2014

The new year is here! Crazy! Everyone always says this, and even I probably have before, but this time I mean it -- this is going to be my YEAR! My resolution is the same as it always is, which is to travel more (just like I said on April's blog last year!). But this year I KNOW I'll travel more because I'm going to college! I'm still not sure where, but I know I'm going, so that's good!

2014

This year will be good. I'm graduating, changing, meeting new people, and I'm pretty happy about it all. I even want to re-vamp the blog and give it a little update so it's hip looking ;) I like having a place where all my memories and thoughts from the past few years are stored, and I want to keep it fresh. I wonder what I'll be doing next year for New Years...?

Have a happy and healthy 2014! I'll see you around the internet!

How have you all been? Christmas break has started and it feels SO good to have a break from school. I've just been relaxing, watching the last bit of Christmas movies, and getting things done that I haven't been able to because of school.

Have a great Monday!

Guest post -- Jennifer from Living the Creative Life

Hi guys, I'm Jennifer from Living the Creative Life. I was so honored to be asked by Katie to do a guest post on her blog, so hopefully I won't bore you guys! I tend to post randomly about random things that strike my interest at the time, whether that be books, movies, art, design, etc... so if that sounds like something that interets you, come visit me! Without furthur ado.... here we go...

Five things every woman should know how to do:

#1 -- Fry an egg

No really. There's something awesome about knowing how to make the perfect fried egg. It's gotten to the point where I don't even like eating eggs other people have made because I like how mine taste better.

#2 -- Pin stuff on Pinterest

Because it's fun. And relaxing. And a great artistic feeding ground.
I am learning that, as an artist, it's very important to feed my inner artistic self or I will not be able to be very creative. For some reason this is easier said than done. I think maybe we artists get used to being depressed and "blocked" so much that we forget that the quickest way out of it is to inspire yourself with other people's creativity. One free way to feed your creativity is by curating a Pinterest stream that speaks to your sense of wonder and imagination!

#3 -- Go to the movies alone

Okay as an introvert, I actually enjoy this... prefer it even. But I really think every woman could benefit from having the strength to do things on her own. Going places w/ friends, boyfriends, family is fine... but you're always seeing these places and things through their eyes. When you go places by yourself, everything looks and feels differently. It can be very envigorating!

#4 -- Generate passive income

I'm not particularly good at this yet, but I keep trying! Passive income is when you continue getting paid for something long after you stop working at it (as opposed to getting paid only for the hours you show up to your job). Example include, e-books, digital downloads (like on Etsy), or even rent from a roommate or tenant. The point is to free up time for you to do other, more fun things... like travel! Because really, who wants to be stuck in a cubicle the rest of their life?

#5 -- Sit still

Again, not something I'm particularly good at. I used to be. I think. I sort of grew out of the ability to sit still without constantly thinking about something, but it's something I wish I were better at. I always sort of feel guilty whenever I have down-time, which really makes the down-time not so relaxing (and kind of ruins the point of down-time, don't you think?). I blame it on the always-on technology feast I gorge myself on daily.
Sitting still, daydreaming, people-watching... etc... can be a great way to give your brain some downtime. Which, from what I've read, is something that your brain really needs in order to function at it's peak abilities. It's a myth that working harder, faster, and with more multi-tasking will improve your performance in things. You actually need rest regularly for your brain to get it's productive surge again!
So it's okay. I promise. I give you permission to sit around and do nothing this afternoon. Your brain will thank you for it.

Thanks, Jennifer! Definitely make sure to pop over to her blog, Living the Creative Life!
