lazy day + shoes

first of all, it snowed last night! i hate how it always snows at night though. it's nice to wake up to, but you can't watch it fall! but so far i've spent the day inside doing random cozy things. it's been a very relaxing day!

second of all, i think i'm starting to have too many shoes. i mean i got 3 new pairs just this week! i knew i loved shoes too much, and i was going to tell myself to stop, but i don't think that's going to happen.

 i got these and these and now yesterday my mom got me black oxfords because they were on sale. so now i have the brown ones AND the black ones. hey, why not?

but seriously, no more shoes for awhile. ;)

i really enjoyed {av}'s Friday Fancies idea this week! you could pick a blogger or anything on the web that has an outfit that inspires you. so my first thought was Annie, from The Other Side of Grey. when scrolling through her blog, i came across this outfit and loved it! so if you'll notice, the outfit i came up with is almost identical to hers.. hehe ;)

isn't it so cute?? i can't pull off leggings as pants, but i think the shirt might be just long enough to cover what needs to be covered. for some reason, i couldn't find a good sweater that i was looking for anywhere on polyvore! it was so frusterating. i would try the outfit though, that's fursure! who's someone you look up to fashion-wise?

DIY

this past weekend i was feeling quite creative and saw something my friend posted on tumblr. it's this DIY project and it's so pretty! so i went out and bought glue, and fabric, and that's about it...

anyway, this is what it's supposed to look like, and these 2 pictures are the one i made! not too shabby, eh?

it was actually pretty hard and took some time. but i think it's a wonderful gift for anyone! just save your jelly jars and follow the easy steps!

i put a tea light in it and lit it but accidentally got the fire too close and singed the fabric.. hehe. no big deal. you can't even tell from the outside!

a good day afterall

 well hello!! i've been pretty busy. let me tell you why.

this was originally going to be a post about how bad my day was - but now it's not. alright, so, today i may have had my poetry out loud in english and i was totally completely nervous about it, but i nailed it! my friend said my face didn't even get red until i sat down! score! and then right after that, i had to memorize a bunch of sentences for spanish, which i was also nervous about, because i have a problem. but that was a piece of cake! (at least it was easy to say... who knows if the sentences were good or not...)

i also had gym first period today, and had dancing. but, it's the last day of dancing!! woo!

oh, but that's not all...

i came home to find these puppies on the door mat! YES. it's a pretty big deal.

maybe i'm exaggerating. i mean in was pretty much a normal day, with some sugar thrown in. hey, for a Wednesday, this is good!

plus American Idol is on tonight. just saying. good day.

 so yesterday i dyed the underneath of my hair blond again, and this time it actually worked! yay! it's not bleached or anything, so it's not really noticeable, but it's there!

and i went to target yesterday and finally got these mocs! i've been waiting for them to go on sale for a long time and i'm so glad they did! less than $10!

today my parents went to a football party (go Ravens!!!) so i have to watch my sister for like 5 hours. so i told my dad he didn't have to pay me (i never get paid for watching my sister anyway) but at target they had this limited time only thing and it was 2 seasons of I Love Lucy for $15. so i'm going to get that! we have 1 season on DVD and the other on VHS, and my sister kind of ruined those, so i'm just going to start fresh.

for Christmas i got an I Love Lucy calendar, and every time i see it, it makes me want to watch it - haha! so i've been watching SO much I Love Lucy lately. so i really want those DVD's!

Friday Fancies - Color Crush

happy Friday! this day should have gone really fast since it was only a half day, but it went soooo slowww. so i'm glad it's Friday! and we have off on Monday, so yay!

this week on {av}'s Friday Fancies, the theme was color! as you'll see, the dress i chose is black. i thought i would choose black or white and then add the color i want. so i went with green! blue is a color everyone chooses, so i didn't go with that and i don't think yellow looks good on me, so i didn't go with that.

anyway... today i don't really have much homework and tomorrow's a half day, so i'm spending the rest of my day laying in bed, watching The Suite Life of Zack and Cody on Netflix (the good one, not that "Suite Life on Deck" business), doing my nails, and reading magazines. sounds like a plan! i feel like this is more of a tomorrow thing though - because it's supposed to snow! yay!

oh, boots

SO. i got an e-mail and my boots are out of stock! just the other day they were being shipped! what the heck! so now i have to get those out of my mind and find others and wait even longer to get them. fan-tas-tic.

i love when people do inspiring posts, when i'm bored or have been studying for awhile, and just want to chill. or if i want to be creative and learn new things. so here are some things that have inspired me lately and i hope they do for you also!

Tumblr - duh! seeing certain pictures that are just beautiful and reblogging only ones that make you feel good :)

speaking of Tumblr, this Tumblr is full of bedroom ideas. i would love to change my room around, so i always look at this website for little changes and imagine if i could change my whole room around.

i love tattoos and i can't explain why! i mean i have none, but i love the idea of them. i don't want to be a crazy tattoo lady, but i want one or two, as you may know from previous posts ;) so the blog Sometimes Sweet has Tattoo Tuesday and interviews people with tattoos every tuesday, so i like to read them, and some are super interesting!

this hair tutorial. i did this on New Years Day and it actaullyturned out really well! and i have short hair, so i was surprised!

Miley Cyrus. i love her. her style, her voice, her boyfriend, her style. yeah - i said her style twice.

i love this song by VV Brown! i seriously can't stop listening to it. it's called Children - the video is kinda weird, but don't be fooled. the song is too good!

on another note, i have no patience for my combat boots. i just want them to be delivered already! this week would be the perfect week for them too. with finals and mid terms and whatnot. they would be like a prize for surviving the tests!

Wreck This Journal

have you guys heard of this? i've been seeing a lot of it lately. it's called Wreck This Journal, and i looked it up and its actually a super cool idea! you know when you can never finish a journal? well this actually has prompt type things on each page telling you cool things to do to 'wreck it'.

 like, it tells you to write one word over and over again on one page and then tells you to have a friend decorate another and to put used fruit stickers on another page. crazzy stuff like that. apperently it helps a lot with bordem!

so you may have read my post about what i want to do on 2012 on April's blog, if you haven't - check it out! anyway, it was about how i want to travel more. hence the title of this post! so today i spent the day at Alexandria, Virginia with my friend Abby and her parents!it's about 2 hours away from where i live, right outside of Washington DC.

it was such a cute place! it had tons of little shops that you wouldn't see anywhere else and it was such a nice day out! a perfect day for this 'trip' :)

we ate at a restaurant that was right on the water, and it was so nice!

then we went to an art 'museum'. it wasn't really a museum, but it showcased different artists art throughout the whole thing! there were different studios for each artist to work and show off what they can do. it was fabulous.

here it is at night! i bet it's wonderful during Christmas time.

so yeah! it was a great day! i will definitely be going back there. Abby and i decided that we want to move there ;)

Christmas good-byes

we have slowly been taking down all of our Christmas decorations. it's so sad! i guess it's ok though. it's just that first shock after everything is taken down, because the house is naked. the tree is down in my room now and i can finally see out of my windows! i think that i actually had trouble sleeping last night because it wasn't as dark in my room. no lie!

now, since Christmas is over, i'm ready for Summer. not Spring, Summer. i get super bad allergies in Spring and i HATE it, so i'm just ready to skip ahead to Summer. today the high was 29 degrees! whaaat?! i like Fall and i like Summer. that's it. oh, but i'm also ok if it snows! snow is so relaxing.

ok well i have homework. shoot. i just want to get it done so i can chill/nap/watch I Love Lucy/Tumbr/watch videos like this: :)

Happy New Year!

Happy 2012! it doesn't feel different haha but it's kind of weird how tomorrow in school i will be writing "1-3-12" on my paper. so on January 1, 2012 at midnight my dad and i went out in the front yard and did sparklers and fireworks we had leftover from the 4th of July! i've been wanting to do this for so long! i put the camera on long shutter and took the picture of the sparklers - look at that!!

2011, you've been good

ok, so i just found this really funny :) sorry 2011 :/

 i think 2012 is going to be a very good year! there will be a lot of change in the upcoming year. i'm really looking forward to it. i always say i'm going to try to change myself and become more outgoing or more talkative in school or something, but that never happens. i guess i can still try though - haha!

i would do a post with pictures of things that i have done in 2011, but:

1. i haven't moved my pictures onto my laptop yet

2. i did a post of things that i accomplished in Summer, and that's pretty much when i did all things interesting. so if i were to do a 2011 post, most of it would be the same things i did in that post. but go over and check out that post to see what i did!

oh, and Australia has a beautiful New Year's! look at it!! my neighbors are moving to Australia and it will be so cool for them to experience this!

Friday Fancies - New Year's Eve

the theme this week on {av}'s Friday Fancies is obviously NYE! is it stupid that it took me a while to figure out what "NYE" stood for...? oh Katie, it clearly means "New Year's Eve"! anyway, every year my friends and i plan to have a "party" (more like us dancing in the basement and watching movies the rest of the time), but it never seems to happen. usually at least, my friend Abby comes over and we play Sing It on the Wii, but this year she won't be here! so i guess this year is just one of those stay at home years where you actually have to try to stay up late because there's nothing you can do to entertain yourself enough to stay awake.
