Shopping day haul

Today I was super bored. All my friends went back to school, I'm not working anymore, so I needed to think of something to do so I'm not just sitting around! So... I did a mini shopping spree! I know I just did one of those a week or 2 ago, but most of this is actually for school/things I needed. (But also a lot of them are for fun ;)

First TJ Maxx! I got this tupperware bowl. I got this one because it's glass and it's meant for the microwave. I really needed a microwave safe tupperware container for work and for stealing food from the dining hall!

One of these water bottles. This isn't the Sip one, but it's another brand that I got for $10. It works great to me! more than $10 less than the real one and there is still no condensation and it keeps water cold for a long time. I love it! I almost didn't buy it, but I'm really glad I did.

A journal! I'm almost finished with the journal I have now and I really like the Eccolo ones at TJs, so I wanted to get one before I go back to school. It says "Be creative, think freely, seize every opportunity, laugh out loud and often, make your heart sing, envision greatness, don't wait for tomorrow, today is the day."

And this is actually a little something for a friend! She loves elephants and coloring books, so I got her a canvas that you can color yourself. I think she'll love it, I can't wait to give it to her!

Now, Target. Just a couple things here, but I still thought I'd share! I got this pillow case that I've had my eye on for SO long! It's reversible and it says "snooze" and "5 more minutes." Perfect for me, I'd say.

And these push pins. I DIYed some cork boards a few weeks ago and I just needed some cute push pins to use with them. I'm excited about it!

Some wedges! I actually don't have any wedges and these were on sale for $8, so I said to myself why not! They're so cute and super comfy.

This is so random, but I had to go to the dollar store the other day for something and I found this B&W rug for just a dollar (obviously)! Can't go wrong, I'll just lay it in front of my bed or something.

And that's all the interesting stuff! I got some more, but it's all folders or curtain rods and stuff. Yay, shopping!

Don't Breathe

First of all, I want to apologize for yet another movie post. Sorry!!

So last night I went to see this with my friend because we love seeing scary movies together. It was opening night (which we didn't even realize) so the theater was packed! I liked having a lot of people there - it was nice having us all in the same boat, all scared. If don't have a jist of what it is, I'll put the  trailer below. All in all, it was amazing!

It kept me on my toes the whole time, it was so original and creative. It was scary and twisted. I just loved it. I was sweating so much LOL if you like horror movies, I highly recommend. The actors were cast SO well. Every time you think it's over, there's another twist. Crazy!!

I would definitely watch it again, but there's nothing like seeing a scary movie for the first time. The suspense and uncertainty. It's so great. Be prepared, though! It's scary and thrilling, but there's one scene that SO unexpected and it's super twisted.

Tell me what you think!

Salt Bride

This was trending on Facebook today... did anyone see?

It's about an artist named Sigalit Landau who put a black gown in the Dead Sea for 2 months and photographed it over time. It's so cool!! The end result is supposed to mirror the gown that was worn in the 1916 play "Dybbuk."

Crazy, right?!

Movies

I've been watching a lot of movies recently... not really sure why. I thought instead of doing a bunch of separate posts about each movie, I'd just make one with my thoughts on all the ones I've seen lately.

While We're Young
I saw this one at Target and read the back and thought it sounded so good! So I got Netflix to send me the DVD and I watched it yesterday. It was great! It reminded me of a Woody Allen movie. Sometimes I wanted it to speed up a little - sometimes it would just drag on during one scene and I was kind of like 'ok, come on...' but it was really good.

Dirty Grandpa
Alright, alright. Have you seen it?? It's definitely stupid humor... but that happens to be one of my favorite movie categories. Neighbors, Sausage Party - I love them all. I thought it was so funny! The cast was perfect and it wasn't a terrible premise for a movie! Definitely a laugh.

Frances Ha
THIS MOVIE. Fantastic. I saw it on Netflix and was a little hesitant, but I watched it and fell in love. First off, it's in black and white. How awesome is that?? A modern movie in black and white. It was so casual, but it told a great story. I just loved every second of it. I definitely recommend a watch. I felt like it combined old-time movies with movies of today so well.

The Purge: Anarchy
I was a little late in the game on this one, but I finally watched it last week. I love scary movies, so I really like this one. I thought it was great that they used a poor family for the second one since they used a rich family for the first one. I really loved it!! I watched it with my dad the same day, and he liked it too. Now I just need to see the third!

What movies have you watched recently? I like watching movies every now and then. It gives you a break from binge watching some show you've seen 5 times already, you know?

The Fundamentals of Caring

I watched this movie last night with some friends and I loved it! I saw the trailer for it a long time ago and just a few days ago I saw it on Netflix and really wanted to see it, so we ordered some pizza, set up the projector and gave it a go.

Have any of you seen it? The whole time I watched, I saw SO many similarities between this and Me Before You. It was kind of hilarious how similar they were. But this one was super funny and I loved the entire cast. I always thought Craig Roberts was funny since I first saw him in Neighbors so I was excited to watch him in this!

What were your thoughts? If you haven't seen it, you should!

Be your best self

I saw someone share this link about ways to be your best self this coming semester and I loved it! Here's the link: http://thelala.com/mind-body-soul-3-ways-best-self-fall-semester/

I want to talk about some because I just thought they were so good!

Cleanse your mind - I think cleaning out your inbox is a great idea! Such a great way to start totally fresh. Also, teaching yourself a skill! I love doing that. I've taught myself how to play the ukulele, how to crochet, cross stitch and so much more! Right now I'm trying to teach myself Icelandic... random, I know.

Heal - My 2 favorites on here are sweat and hydrate. Drink a lot of water a day and cut out all other drinks! You'll be SO amazed at what it does for you. And sweat out all your stress with any kind of exercise. Whether it just be yoga or running, sweating can do you a world of good.

Focus - My all time favorite on this whole link is about watching classic movies. Stop with the Kardashians and Real Housewives. Try watching Funny Face or even I Love Lucy! Seriously. The other one on here that I liked was writing down your goals. Crossing things off of a list is one of the most satisfying feelings, am I wrong?!

What do you love on this list? I wish you all a happy new semester if your in school and if you're out of school, this things still apply!

Cozy Inspiration

I'm trying to find some more room inspiration for my new semester. I have my own room this year, so the goal is to make it all 'me' and completely cozy. I'm excited! So far, I've found that lamps, curtains, and pillows are what make a room the most cozy. I already use a lot of lamps (I hate the ugly lights they put on the ceiling) and I recently bought curtains and new sheets and pillow cases.

Since we're in the middle of a move, I feel like this new room is almost going to be more of 'my room' than my actual room will be. Weird!

Also, it's the last day of the Olympics :( So sad! It's a super rainy day here, so I plan on watching as much as I can and then curling up to the Closing Ceremonies while I shed a tear or two. I really love the Olympics! Seeing the flame go out gets me a little emotional, I can't help it!

Retail therapy

Yesterday my friend and I took a road trip to King of Prussia Mall and it was so fun! Firs, we stopped at her school and had lunch in the little town, and then moved forward into King of Prussia. It's so good to take a day every now and then and go shopping. I gave myself a budget, but I was also willing to just get anything that caught my eye (within reason) because I really don't go to malls and shop much anymore. It was fun to walk out with bags and bags of things!

Have you given yourself a shopping day recently? What did you get and where did you go?

This is Us

Have you all seen the trailer for the new NBC show This is Us? Wow, it looks so good. I teared up just watching the preview! I'm excited for this one - it's such an interesting concept. There seem to be a lot of good shows coming out within the next few months. Pretty cool!

Nerve

You guys!!! Have you seen Nerve? My friend and I saw a trailer for it a few months ago when we saw Me Before You and we looked at each other and said "WE WILL SEE THIS." So my friend just got back from vacation 2 days ago and the first thing we did together was to see this movie (because we wanted to see it the night it came out, but sadly we weren't together) last night and WOW. I just loved it so much.

I'm sure you've seen the trailer, but I'll put it below if you want to check it out. I thought it was so well done, the soundtrack was perfect, the cast was awesome, it was suspenseful, and it made me feel like I was running around NYC with them. SO GOOD. Go see it if you haven't!

Rio 2016

(Hali Flickinger - she's from my hometown!)

**
Have you all been watching the Olympics?? I'm obsessed. I like the Winter ones more, but these are just as good. I almost feel like I have to watch them because they're only every 4 years. It's so interesting though. The best of the best when it comes to all of these sports. I just sit and try to catch everything I can.

Which sport is your favorite? I honestly can't pick. I played tennis for a while, so I feel like I understand that one the most, but gymnastics intrigues me SO much. It's so interesting!!

Some photos from when I took my mom to New York. It was her first time there in over 10 years! Crazy!

Taken with a Nikon D3100.
