Hello!

Do people still Photo Booth?

I got a new computer yay! I should be posting more now. We'll see. Now that I don't have to use the library computers, it might be a negative. I really needed the new computer though, so I'm happy! I was looking through Photo Booth and remembering when my friends and I were younger taking pictures. I haven't seen anyone use it lately!

Hope you all had an awesome Thanksgiving! I'll be posting some thoughts I've had over the past few days soon. I have a lot on my mind and I'm excited to post it all on here. This is the last night I'll ever sleep in this house!

Roman Holiday (1953)

Anything with Audrey Hepburn is a winner! I love older movies/shows. I just feel like they have the best acting. Also, they made things that were so real and funny too. They could make normal jokes and have them be funny rather than joking about sex and cheating. I love movies and shows today too, but I have an appreciation for these films!

Happy Thanksgiving!
I'm thankful for so much right now. Things are looking up everyday and I'm glad I'm slowly, finally, figuring my life out.

Home!

I'm going to be without a computer for a about a week, while at home. And I'm glad! I spend all my days at school on the computer and I'm happy to have some time to collect myself. Also, this this week is the last time I'll se my house before the big move! I'm just going to try to take every day in and enjoy all the things I love about it.

In the mean time, I've scheduled a few posts throughout the week, so enjoy those! I also post on Instagram a lot (@katiescherpf)! I have a lot of time on my hands, if you can't tell ;)

Change

I'm kind of at that time when I'm running out of blog-creativity again. This happens and it makes me sad because I click "create new post" and then just stare. So here I am trying to think of something to write about... I'll write about what's going on in my life right now.

A lot of change! I got a call the other day telling me I got into the school I want to transfer too! I'm so excited! I was really nervous, but I'm glad things are falling into place.

My parents found the house that they're going to rent while we look for another house to live in. It's not the best, but it'll do for the time being. We start moving things into it this Saturday and it's kind of freaking me out at how fast things are happening.

The one club I'm involved in at Springfield was taken away last week and I'm really upset about it. It's pretty much the only thing I enjoy at this school, so the fact that they took it away really irritates me. (Another sign it's best for me to leave?)

My pop-pop is in the hospital and he's doing ok. He should be out soon but he had to have a few things done. It's hard to say how he's doing or what's going to come out of this, but I'm hoping everything goes well.

They think they've identified the people that were in charge of the French attacks. I hope so much that this is resolved. It makes me incredibly sad that we live on a planet where these things happen. We shouldn't walk outside of our door and fear. It's my wish to live in a place where everyone supports one another and there is no violence.

2 more days until I go home! There may be a lot going on in my life, but I feel like this is just a pit. It's uphill from here. Change is hard, but we all need a little bit every now and then to keeps ourselves fresh.

I hope you're all doing well! Tomorrow night I have to put on an event on campus and it's really stressful, but I'm excited. The group we're having is really funny, so once it's all set up and read to go it should be fine. And then Saturday bright and early I head home! Yay!

Drapetomania (n.) an overwhelming urge to run away

I came across this word the other day on my Twitter and I thought it was so relevant to my life right now. Actually, I bet a lot of people can relate to it! As you know, I have a strong love of Iceland and that's where I've been dreaming of going lately. It costs so little to get there and I feel like it would be such a fun experience, every time I see a picture of it I just want to pack up all my things and move away!

(Picture from an Iceland travel website!)

If you had no obligations and you had a care-free life, where would you run away to?

I hope you're all doing well! Stay strong; Thanksgiving is coming up!

1 week

Hey everyone! How did your week go? TGIF, amiright? Only 1 MORE WEEK until I go home. I'm so ready to get out of this city and away from this school. Constant girl drama, dealing with drunk roommates, getting no sleep, I'M READY!

Here are some quotes about hope, just because I'm feeling the need.

"We must accept infinite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope."
 -Martin Luther King Jr.

"Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all the darkness."
-Desmund Tutu

"We must rediscover the distinction between hope and expectation."
-Ivan Illich

"I find hope in the darkest of days, and focus in the brightest. I do not judge the universe"
-Dalai Lama

"Hope is the pillar that holds up the world. Hope is the dream of waking man."
-Pliny the Elder

Cycling / Spinning

Guess what I've gotten into recently?! Actually it's not that recent, I think I started about 4 or 5 weeks ago. But it's cycling! They call it that at my school because we don't have certified spinning instructors, but it's basically the same thing. I love it!

It's such a big stress reliever for me. You get such a good workout and also sweat so much. One of my favorite parts about it are the playlists. I like to go on Wednesdays because the instructor is really great and she also has the best music.

They put on such motivating and pumping songs! In the middle of the workout there is usually a cool down song to get your heart rate down and the very first time I went, she played I Lived by OneRepublic. She told us to close our eyes and imagine a road in front of us. Then she wanted us to "bike" somewhere we wished we were and I pictured Boston! That was when I knew I definitely wanted to Transfer. It was so weird. Now I go to cycling every week because it really helps me think clearly.

What workouts do you do? I'm trying to try out more new things. Yesterday I went to an ab bootcamps. MISTAKE! Just kidding - I felt really good afterward, but jeez! Hardcore!

Link Love

^ This, right here, is pretty much my definition of Fall/Winter.

This is one of my new favorite Flickr accounts.

This dress is STUNNING. I want it to be my wedding dress! In white, of course.

I love Fall.

I just updated my Flickr photostream for the first time in a while!

I'm currently really obsessed with Iceland - it's BEAUTIFUL! I've decided that I definitely want to study abroad there some time soon and I've been reading up on info about different seasons. Take a look, it's really interesting!

And here's one more link about Iceland just incase you didn't believe me. ;)

I saw really good costumes this year! Look at this one - it's not the most interesting but OMG this teacher is so attractive??? I mean, I watched that video like 10 times, no lie.

Have you seen Justin Bieber's new music video? That was shot in Iceland?

Have a peaceful Sunday!

Sleepless in Springfield

I have a random question - what do you all do if you can't sleep at night?

I'll try to keep this short, but I've been falling asleep easily, but then during the night my roommate starts grinding her teeth and it keeps me up in the middle of the night. All I can seem to hear is the teeth grinding and I can't fall back asleep after that.

My City In A Drive-By Blur | by Kristybee

I've tried putting in my headphones and listening to Pandora, but that doesn't always work. I even have an app on my phone that hypnotizes you to Fall asleep and that's usually foolproof for me, but even that hasn't been working lately. I'm stuck! I've tried bringing the teeth grinding up to her but she just won't d anything about it! I need help because I'm (literally) losing sleep over this.

Thanks, beauties!

One does not love breathing

“Mockingbirds don’t do one thing but make music for us to enjoy. They don’t eat up people’s gardens, don’t nest in corncribs, they don’t do one thing but sing their hearts out for us. That’s why it’s a sin to kill a mockingbird.”
-Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird
______________________________________________

I watched this movie for the first time in a while yesterday and forgot how great it was. Back in high school I wasn't really a reader, so reading this book wasn't much fun for me and maybe that's why it took me so long to want to remember it again. It's great though! (Did you see the title of the post? Can you tell where that's from?)

Did this week go super fast for anyone else? I can't believe it's Thursday! Tomorrow some of my art therapy friends and I are headed to New York and I'm so excited! The 4 of us do this every semester and it's a fun tradition to look forward to.

Have an awesome day!

Iceland

Ok, so I have a Link Love post planned with some links about this beautiful country, but I just wanted to post about it here real quick. A few days ago I became obsessed with Iceland. The school that I'm hopefully transferring to has an exchange program with the University of Iceland and that's where I found it. I don't know how I never really thought about Iceland in the past? It's simply amazing. I've decided that I'll either study there or even live there for a short time. I must go and I must go soon.

Here are just some screenshots from Google Maps! Google Maps! These aren't even pictures I searched - they are legit landscapes from Google Maps. Enjoy!

I NEED TO GO.

P.S. I will be posting more about Iceland, so prepare yourselves.

Currently

(This picture from Tumblr makes me so happy. I feel like this is a cat version of me right now.)

Loving: I almost didn't write something for this one. I almost eliminated this one all together, but I can't do that. I need to find something that I love right now. I need to find the positives in my life. So hmm... I'm going to say I'm currently loving that I found out I can rent movies in the library for free. Also, the fact that I'm going to New York in 2 weeks. Let's see... I'm also loving all the new music that's coming out. Also, the fact that my parents are happy that our house sold. Eh? I'd say I did pretty good there!

Watching: Actually, not much. I can't get Netflix to work on my computer, so it's a complete 360 turn around from last year. I've been renting movies from the library and stuff. And luckily I have 3 seasons of Gilmore Girls on DVD, so that's been keeping me pretty busy. Did you guys see they're coming out with 4 90 minute Gilmore Girls episodes?! Yay!

Reading: The Notebook. I'm loving it so far! It's (kind of) a classic, so I feel like I can't really say anything bad about it. I do think it's a little cheesy though. I can kind of tell there things are going all the time. I'm almost done and then I need to watch the movie!

Anticipating: THANKSGIVING BREAK! Did I make that clear enough? ;) I just can't wait to go home. Even though most of that time will be spent packing up my room in preparation for the move, I still want to get outa Massachusetts for a bit. Before break, though, I have fairly busy weekends, so that should keep my entertained.

Listening to: Adele! I'm so obsessed. I'm trying to not listen to Hello too much because I really don't want to get tired of it, but that's really difficult. Also, I did a post about music not too long ago. And those are mostly all the songs I have on repeat right now!

Working on: Finding the positive in negative situations. I have so much going on in my life right now and it's so much to take in and so many emotions. These things should be positive, but I just can't seem to look at them that way and I need to. I need to not waste my life getting upset about stupid things. I need to not be sad about yesterday and not be anxious about tomorrow, but just be happy in the moment, right now. It's tough but I can do this!

Thanks to Danielle from Sometimes Sweet for this post idea!

Northampton, MA

So I figured out a place to go on Saturday after all! I went about 20 minutes north to Northampton. It was AWESOME! The town was perfect and I definitely want to go back. But, on top of that, being there for Halloween was so great. I'm so glad I got away from campus and took a mini trip! I didn't really take any pictures myself, but here are some I found by Joseph a, on Flickr!

It's just the cutest place! The kids trick-or-treated throughout the shops from 4-6 and it was so fun to see. It was such a family event/place. It kind of reminded me of Stars Hollow! Anyway, if you're in the New England area and have never been, I highly recommend!

Just in case you DO go there, here are some of my favorite places: Cedar Chest in Thornes, The Raven Used Book Shop, Herrell's Ice Cream, The Haymarket Café, Ten Thousand Villages, and the Smith College Botanic Garden (free + beautiful!).

P.S. Happy November! Can you believe we're already 2 days in?! Crazy.
