P.S. Don't you love the feeling after a long, productive day? Today I babysat (I picked them up from daycare and we went to their horseback riding lesson in a barn!) and then went to the gym and used my C25K app again. Feeling good! ..and tired.

50 Shades

I've wanted to re-paint my room for such a long time! My mom picked out my room colors when I was 8 and I haven't been able to change them since. I think this Summer is my time though, so I've been looking up some inspiration! I really want to paint it a grey color because I like neutrals and I think grey with a white trim would look so chic.

I really like grey at the moment and this room looks sophisticated and relaxing with this simple colour scheme.

So nice, right? Pictures from Pinterest.

Spread some love today

I'm double-posting today because I feel like I've just been around too much negative energy recently. Last night we went to my aunt & uncle's house in MD and my uncle is just so blunt and straight forward. He was complaining the whole night because he didn't like that we brought our dog and they just didn't make my family feel welcome. I've also had a lot of people tell me to work harder to find a Summer job so I'm not wasting my time. I get it; it's helpful. But just let me figure it out on my own and stop telling me I'm a "waste of space" if I'm not working.

Anyway, the main point of this post is just to say: spread positivity. Smile at people, make them feel good, and know that if you're fine doing what you're doing, keep doing it.

Slow down, life

Today one of my very best friends is getting married and it's just making me feel very nostalgic. I wasn't able to go to the wedding because it was too far away and I don't have enough money, which makes me sad. I know I'll see her soon, but it's just tough not being there for one of your best friends wedding.

I can't believe how fast time is going, though. I feel like just yesterday she was telling me all about her college freshman roommate and we were crying because she was leaving for GA. Now she's graduated and getting married and I'm just in awe. I almost wish I would have cherished those crazy times we had when we were younger because I know we'll never do some of that stuff again. I really miss it and her and wish we could all turn back time a little. You know?

Anyway, congratulations Jennette and Nathan!

Dream Dorms

Next year I actually know exactly what my room is going to look like (set-up-wise) and that's really exciting because I know where I want everything. I've been Pinterest-ing decorating and I'm so pumped! It's so awesome to not be a freshman.

Life is good

Of course we all have bad days, but I think it's really important to highlight the good ones. The past couple days I've thought to myself at the end of the day "that was a really good day." Do you ever do that? Anyway, I thought I'd share some good things that have happened to me over the past couple days that have made me happy:

I'm getting a new Mac

I started my nanny-ing job today (aka got MONEY)

I got a promising response when I handed in my Charlotte Russe application

Saw Boyhood for the first time and watched it everyday since (enough said)

Got one of my favorite Yankee Candle scents 75% off (Jelly Beans - $7!)

My face is clear, and that's ALWAYS a good thing

I started painting and taking pictures more and I think it's just putting me in a good mood

My Own Space

So, I know I talk about this a lot (sorrynotsorry, it is my blog hehe), but I really can't wait to have my own little apartment in the future. As I sit here in my room and my mom is constantly moving my stuff and getting rid of my stuff, I just think more and more about what my future will be.

I don't really like talking about time because I really want to enjoy the present, but the excitement of what I have planned really makes me want it more and more. Anyway, that was kind of deep, but I'm really excited and I know it'll happen really soon because time is just flying by.

Have an awesome day!

P.S. Since yesterday, I deactivated my Facebook and Twitter for the time being and I feel good :) Here's to looking at my phone less!

Social Media

This is kind of a rant because I just want to put some of my thoughts up on here.

I have a lot of thoughts about social media. I love that we can connect the whole world together and see what's going on all the time all around the world. I think it's a great concept because there are so many things we need to open our minds up to.

On the other hand, I don't like how it consumes us. I've never liked how people are constantly on their phones and social media is probably the biggest part of that. Think about it: Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Yik Yak, Tinder. There are so many and so much of our precious time is wasted checking these all day long.

I was recently watching an interview of Ellar Coltrane (from Boyhood -- sorry I'm literally obsessed with this movie. It's all I've been thinking about and I don't think I'll stop talking about it for a little while) and he was saying how he's disgusted with social media. In one of the scenes from Boyhood, he rants about Facebook and I think it's all true: "I don't want to live life through a screen" I think, while sometimes social media is really positive and uplifting, it's also very negative and hurtful.

I've thought multiple times about deleting some of my apps and living more in the now. I'd actually really like to do that and by talking more about it on here, I think I might.

What are your thoughts? I just think people spend too much time living online and need to live more in their real-life present.

Boyhood (2014)

I saw the trailer for this last Summer when I went to the theater to see another movie and I remembered it, but couldn't remember the name. And then recently I saw the trailer for it again and went to rent it right away. It's SO good. It deserves way more credit than it has. It was filmed over the course of 12 years with the same cast and catches the milestones of a boy named Mason (played by Ellar Coltrane). It has such a great soundtrack and is filmed so perfectly.

It's almost a 3 hour movie, so it took me a little while to watch the whole thing because I fell asleep the first time since I started watching at 1 am like a moron, but after I finished it I immediately wanted to watch it again. I highly recommend it because it really shows that people go through a lot in their life. From the time their little to the time their in their 20s, there's so much that we go through as humans. It's directed by Richard Linklater and it's so so good. I honestly can't stop thinking about it -- it's definitely my new favorite movie.
